Meet the Director

Mrs. Jessica Amores-Gennaro Diaz

Mrs. Jessica Amores Diaz is in her 4th year as Director of Instrumental Ensembles at Robert Morgan Educational Center.  Ms. Amores is a product of Miami-Dade County Public Schools and a proud graduate from Miami Coral Park Senior High School.

Ms. Amores received her Bachelors in Music Education degree from Florida International University (FIU) with a Minor in Italian Language.  She was the drum major of the FIU Marching Band in its revival year of 2010. Her first teaching position was at Keys Gate Charter School, where she taught 6 & 7th grade beginning band and general music in her first year, and then 7-12 grade band classes in her second year. During her time at Keys Gate, she started a marching band program (including color guard), chartered the school's first ever chapter of Tri-M Music Honor Society, participated in the school's first ever FBA District 16 Music Performance Assessment, and helped create the Knights of Gold Band Parent Association. She has a Masters Degree in Music Education from Florida International University.

While at Robert Morgan High School, Ms. Amores has consistently had students receive Superior ratings and qualify for state assessment for FBA and FOA Solo & Ensemble performances. Her students have achieved Superior in sight reading at FBA and FOA district assessments. The RMEC Jazz band has received an overall SUPERIOR rating and has performed at FBA State Jazz Assessments under her guidance. She is currently still performing primarily as a clarinet and bass clarinet player for ensembles such as the Greater Miami Symphonic Band and the Les Art Nouveau Chalumeaux Clarinet Choir, but also as a multiple reed performer in community musical productions such as "A Funny thing Happened...Forum", "Hairspray", "In the Heights", "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" and "Annie".

Ms. Amores has served as Treasurer for the Dade County Music Educator's Association (DCMEA). She is also part of the following associations:  National Association for Music Education (NAfME), Florida Bandmasters Association (FBA), Florida Music Educators Association (FMEA), Sigma Sigma Sigma National Sorority (ΣΣΣ), Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity for Women (SAI), is an Honorary Member of Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity (KKΨ), and is also part of the teacher's union at Miami Dade County Public Schools (UTD). She is also a proud member of the FIU Marching Band alumni Association.
